Hemm żewġ sinjali għal DEŻERT. L-ewwel sinjal jixbaħ dak għal RAMEL. Dan isir biż-żewġ idejn li jieħdu l-forma ta’ 5 imma bis-saba’ l-kbir imiss mas-swaba’ l-oħra u bil-pala tal-id tħares ’l isfel. Il-ponot tas-swaba’ jogħorku lil xulxin imbagħad l-id tinqaleb mill-polz biex il-pala tiġi tħares ’il fuq waqt li l-moviment tas-swaba’ jibqa’ sejjer. It-tieni sinjal għandu żewġ partijiet. (i) L-ewwel isir is-sinjal għal ART. Id waħda tieħu l-forma ta’ 5 bil-pala tħares ’l isfel. L-id timxi fil-livell tal-qadd minn naħa għall-oħra waqt illi ddur biex is-swaba’ jiġu jħarsu lejn il-ġenb. (ii) It-tieni parti hija s-sinjal għal RAMEL, jiġifieri, l-ewwel sinjal għal DEŻERT.
There are two signs for DESERT. The first sign resembles that for SAND. It is made with both hands in the shape of 5 but with the thumb touching the other fingers and the palm facing downwards. The finger tips rub against each other then the hand turns over at the wrist so that the palm faces upwards whilst the finger tips continue rubbing. The second sign consists of two parts. (i) The first part is the sign for GROUND. This is made with one hand in the shape of 5 with palm facing downwards. The hand moves at waist level from one side to the other. As it does this it moves round so that the fingers point to the side. (ii) The second part is the same as that for SAND, that is, the first sign for DESERT.
