Hemm żewġ sinjali għal FLAMINGO. L-ewwel sinjal huwa magħmul minn żewġ partijiet. (jew i) L-ewwel, id waħda tieħu l-forma ta’ Ċ u titqiegħed quddiem il-ħalq u l-imnieħer, bil-pala ta’ l-id laġenba. Is-swaba’ jingħalqu waqt li l-id toħroġ ‘il barra. L-id tingħalaq forma ta’ ponn waqt li tinżel ’l isfel. (jew ii) It-tieni parti ssir biż-żewġ idejn li jieħdu l-forma ta’ 1 ftit ikkurvat u jinżlu ’l quddiem u ’l isfel. Il-werrej ta’ id jersaq bi skoss ’l isfel imbagħad jerġa jitla’ ’l fuq waqt li l-werrej tal-id l-oħra jagħmel l-istess u jieqaf ’l fuq mill-id l-oħra.

Is-sinjal għal ŻGĦIR isir biż-żewġ idejn li jieħdu l-forma ta’ Ċ u jħarsu lejn xulxin f’linja vertikali. Is-sinjal għal KBIR isir b’id waħda forma ta’ 5 li tħares lejn l-art. Id-distanza tal-idejn minn xulxin u tal-idejn mill-art tindika d-daqs tal-flamingo. Is-sinjal għal FLAMINGO jiġi qabel is-sinjal għal ŻGĦIR jew KBIR.

There are two signs for FLAMINGO. The first sign is made up of two parts. (jew i) First, one hand takes the shape of C and is placed over the mouth and nose with palm facing sideways. The fingers close whilst the hand moves outwards. The hand takes on a fist shape whilst it moves down. (jew ii) The second part is made with both hands that take the shape of a slightly curved 1 and move down and frontwards. The index finger of one hand moves jerkily down below the other hand then the index finger of the other hand does the same and then moves up again and stops higher than the other hand.
The second sign uses only the first part.
The sign for SMALL is made with both hands in the shape of C with palms facing each other in a vertical direction. The sign for BIG is made with the hand in the shape of 5 with palm facing the ground. The distance between the two hands and between the hand and the ground indicates the relative size of the flamingo. The sign for FLAMINGO is used before the sign for SMALL or BIG.
The sign for MANY is used after the sign for FLAMINGO to express the plural. A classifier is often used. In this case one or both hands in the shape of curved 8 is placed at various points in the signing space as though several flamingos were actually being put into that space.
When the noun FLAMINGO is the subject of a verb of movement, the hand in the shape of curved 8 or of 1 functions as the classifier. It then moves according to the action.
