Hemm żewġ sinjali għal GĦAM. L-ewwel sinjal isir biż-żewġ idejn li jieħdu l-forma ta’ 5 magħluq bil-pala tal-id tħares ’l isfel. L-idejn jitqiegħdu quddiem fin-nofs bis-swaba’ l-kbar jew bil-werrejja jmissu. L-idejn jitbiegħdu lejn il-ġenb waqt li jogħlew ftit u imbagħad jerġgħu jiltaqgħu fin-nofs. Dan is-sinjal ifakkar fil-breaststroke.
It-tieni sinjal isir ukoll biż-żewġ idejn li jieħdu l-forma ta’ 5 bil-pala tħares ’l isfel. Id titqiegħed iktar ’il fuq u ’il quddiem mill-oħra. L-id ta’ quddiem iddur b’moviment li jfakkar fl-għawm, jiġifieri, ’il quddiem ’l isfel u lura waqt li l-id l-oħra togħla ’l fuq, timxi ’l quddiem imbagħad ’l isfel u lura.
F’sentenzi fejn il-kuntest ikun diġa ġie determinat, tintuża id fil-forma ta’ V bħala classifier. Is-swaba’ tal-V iferfru ’l fuq u ’l isfel.

There are two signs for SWIM. The first sign is made with both hands in the shape of closed 5 with the palm facing downwards. The hands are placed at the front in the middle with the thumbs or index fingers touching. Then the hands are raised a little as they move away to the side and then move to the middle again. This reminds one of the breaststroke.
The second sign is also made with both hands in the shape of 5 with palms facing downwards. One hand is placed higher and forward in relation to the other. This hand rotates as in swimming, by first moving forward then downwards and backwards whilst the other hand moves up, forward, then downwards and back again.
In sentences where the context is already clear, a V shaped hand is used as a classifier. The fingers of the V hand flutter up and down.
Where reference is made to underwater swimming, the other hand which takes the closed 5 shape and is placed over the the V shaped hand serving as classifer.
GĦOLI (u FIL-GĦOLI)
Is-sinjal GĦOLI isir b’id waħda li tieħu l-forma ta’ 5 magħluq. L-id titla ’l fuq kemm tista’. L-għajnejn iħarsu ’l fuq ukoll matul is-sinjal. Imbagħad, l-id tintlewa ftit meta tasal.
HIGH (and HIGH UP)
The sign for HIGH is made with one hand in the shape of closed 5. The hand moves up as high as possible. The signer looks up at the hand throughout. At the end, the hand bends.
