Hemm żewġ sinjali jixxiebħu għal MELLIEĦA. L-ewwel sinjal isir b’id waħda li tieħu l-forma ta’ M. L-id iddur f’nofs ċirku orizzontali ’l barra lejn il-ġenb.
It-tieni sinjal isir b id waħda li tieħu l-forma ta’ 5 laxka u bil-pala tħares ’l isfel. L-id timxi ’l fuq f’linja ftit imserrpa, il-pala tibda tħares ’il barra sakemm l-id tasal fuq livell għola mir-ras u l-pala tħares dritt ’il barra. Dan il-moviment ifakkar fl-għolja twila u mserrpa li twassal għall-Mellieħa.
Kultant is-sinjal għal M, l-ewwel ittra ta’ l-isem tal-post, isir qabel.
There are two similar signs for MELLIEĦA. The first is made with one hand that takes the shape of M. The hand turns round horizontally in a half circle outwards to the side.
The second sign is made with one hand that takes the shape of a loose 5 with the palm facing downwards. The hand moves upward in a winding line with the palm gradually turning to face out once the hand reaches a level above the head. This reminds one of the long winding hill up to Mellieħa.
Occasionally, the sign for the letter M, the first letter in the placename, is made.
