Hemm żewġ sinjali għal VOLPI. L-ewwel sinjal isir bl-idejn li jieħdu l-forma ta’ L u jitqiegħdu ma’ ġenb ir-ras in-naħa ta’ fuq. Il-pala ta’ id waħda tħares lejn l-oħra. Is-saba’ l-kbir u l-werrej jingħalqu u fl-istess ħin l-idejn joħorġu laġenba iktar ‘il barra.
It-tieni sinjal għandu żewġ partijiet. (jew i) L-ewwel, id waħda tieħu l-forma ta’ 5 milwija u tgħatti l-ħalq u l-imnieħer. Imbagħad toħroġ ’il barra waqt li s-swaba’ jersqu viċin ta’ xulxin u l-ponot tas-swaba’ jmissu. (jew ii) Imbagħad isir l-ewwel sinjal bħala t-tieni parti tiegħu.
Is-sinjal għal TARBIJA jew is-sinjal għal ŻGĦIR jintuża wara s-sinjal għal VOLPI biex jirreferi għall-ġeru. Is-sinjali għal ŻGĦIR jew is-sinjal għal KBIR, isir minn id waħda bil-forma ta’ 5 bil-pala ‘l isfel. Id-distanza bejn l-art u l-id tindika d-daqs tal-volpi. Dawn is-sinjali jiġu wara s-sinjal għal VOLPI.
Fil-plural, is-sinjal għal ĦAFNA jiġi wara s-sinjal għal VOLPI. Ġieli ukoll tintuża classifier. F’dan il-każ tintuża id waħda jew iż-żewġ idejn fil-forma ta’ V mgħawġa u jitpoġġew f’ħafna punti fiż-żona tas-sinjali qisu hemmhekk qed jitqiegħdu ħafna volpi.
Meta n-nom VOLPI jkun is-suġġett ta’ verb ta’ moviment, tintuża id waħda jew iż-żewġ idejn fil-forma ta’ V mgħawġa jew ta’ 5 mgħawweġ bħala classifier u l-idejn jimxu skond l-azzjoni.
There are two signs for FOX. The first sign is made with the hands in the L shape at the top side of the head. The palms of the hands face each other. The thumb and the index finger close and the hands move out to the side.
The second sign has two parts. (jew i) First, one hand takes the shape of bent 5, covers the nose and mouth without touching, then moves out whilst the fingers approach each other and the fingertips touch. (jew ii) Then the first sign is made as the second part here.
The sign for BABY or SMALL is used after the sign for FOX, depending on the sentence, to refer to the pup. The sign for SMALL or the sign for BIG are made with one hand in the shape of 5, palm down. The distance between the ground and the hand indicates the relative size of the fox. These signs are used after the sign for FOX.
The plural is formed by adding the sign for MANY after the sign for FOX. A classifier is often used. In this case one or two hands in the curved V shape are used. They are placed at various points in the signing space as though several foxes were actually being put into that space.
When the noun FOX is used as the subject of a verb of movement, one or both hands in the shape of curved V or curved 5 are used as classifiers and move accordingly.
