Hemm żewġ sinjali differenti għal ĠEMEL. L-ewwel sinjal isir biż-żewġ idejn. Id waħda, bid-driegħ imġenneb ’l fuq u l-pala tħares laġenba, tieħu l-forma tas-sinjal għal ANNIMAL bis-swaba’ tan-nofs u taċ-curkett imissu s-saba’ l-kbir waqt li l-werrej u s-saba’ ż-żgħir jestendu ’l fuq. L-id l-oħra tagħmel il-forma ta’ żewġ kurvaturi ’l fuq id-driegħ l-ieħor li jfakkruk fil-ħotob tal-ġemel.

It-tieni sinjal isir b’id waħda forma ta’ 5 u bil-pala tħares lejn l-art. L-id timxi mill-għoli ta’ l-ispalla ‘l fuq u terġa’ tinżel f’linja kurva. Fl-istess ħin, l-id titgħawweġ mill-għaksa biex tifforma l-kurvatura. Dan il-moviment isir darbtejn u l-id tersaq lejn id-direzzjoni opposta. Dan ifakkrek fil-ħotba tal-ġemel.

Għal ġemel żgħir jew kbir, is-sinjal għal ŻGĦIR jew is-sinjal għal KBIR isir b’ id waħda li tieħu l-forma ta’ 5 bil-pala ’l isfel. Id-distanza bejn l-art u l-id tindika d-daqs tal-ġemel. Dan is-sinjal jiġi wara s-sinjal għal ĠEMEL.

Għall-plural is-sinjal għal ĦAFNA jiġi wara s-sinjal għal ĠEMEL. Ġieli ukoll tintuża classifier. F’dan il-każ l-id tieħu l-forma ta’ V mgħawġa u titpoġġa f’ħafna punti fiż-żona tas-sinjali qisu hemmhekk qed jitqiegħdu ħafna iġmla.

Meta n-nom ĠEMEL ikun is-suġġett ta’ verb ta’ moviment, l-id fil-forma ta’ V mgħawġa tintuża bħala classifier u timxi skond l-azzjoni.

There are two signs for CAMEL. The first sign is made with both hands. One hand, with the arm stretched up towards the side and with the palm facing sideways, takes the shape for ANNIMAL with the middle and ring fingers touching the thumb whilst the index finger and pinkie stretch upwards. The other hand makes the shape of two curves upwards over the other arm resembling the camel’s humps.

The second sign is made with one hand in the shape of 5 with the palm facing downwards. The hand moves from shoulder level upwards and then down again in a curved line. At the same time, the hand curves from the knuckles as it forms the curve. This movement is repeated twice and the hand moves towards the opposite direction. This reminds one of the camel’s humps.

To refer to a small or large camel, the sign for SMALL or the sign for BIG is made with one hand in the shape of 5, palm down, after the sign for CAMEL. The distance between the ground and the hand indicates the relative size of the camel.

The sign for MANY is used after the sign for CAMEL to express the plural. A classifier is often used. In this case one or both hands in the shape of curved V are placed at various points in the signing space as though several camels were actually being put into that space.

When the noun CAMEL is the subject of a verb of movement, the hand in a curved V shape is used as the classifier, moving according to the action.
