The sign for EAGLE has two parts. The first part is made with one hand held upright in the shape of curved 1, with palm facing outwards in front of the nose. The hand turns forward and downward from the wrist. This movement reminds one of the eagle’s beak. The second part is made with the first three fingers of both hands curved and the palm facing outwards. The hands move down a little from the sides and make a curved movement outwards whilst the three fingers come together. A variant of the sign consists of only the first part.

For a small or a large eagle, the sign for EAGLE is followed by the sign for SMALL or for BIG. The sign for SMALL and the sign for BIG is made with the hands in the shape of 5 with palms facing in a diagonal or vertical direction. The distance between the hands indicates the size of the bird.

The sign for MANY is used after the sign for EAGLE to signal plurarily. A classifier is often used. In this case one or both hands in the shape of curved 8 or curved V is placed at various points in the signing space as though several eagles were actually being put into that space.

When the noun EAGLE is the subject of a verb of movement, one hand in the shape of curved 8 or curved V is used as the classifier, moving according to the action indicated by the verb.
