Dan is-sinjal isir b’id waħda wieqfa mill-minkeb. Il-werrej u s-saba’ ż-żgħir jistiraw ’l fuq. Fl-istess ħin is-swaba’ tan-nofs imissu s-saba’ l-kbir waqt li jistiraw ’l barra. L-id iddur kemm kemm fil-post.
Is-sinjal għal TARBIJA jew is-sinjal għal ŻGĦIR jintuża mas-sinjal għal ANNIMAL biex jirreferi għal annimali li għadhom frieħ. Is-sinjali għal ŻGĦIR jew is-sinjal għal KBIR isir minn id waħda li tieħu l-forma ta’ 5 bil-pala ’l isfel. Id-distanza bejn l-art u l-id tindika d-daqs tal-annimal. Meta n-nom ANNIMAL ikun is-suġġett ta’ verb ta’ moviment, tintuża id waħda jew iż-żewġ idejn fil-forma ta’ V mgħawġa jew ta’ 5 mgħawwġa bħala classifier u l-idejn jimxu skond l-azzjoni.
This sign is made with one hand held upright elbow up. The index finger and the pinkie are stretched straight up whilst the middle fingers touch the thumb as they stretch out. The hand rotates very slightly in place.
The sign for BABY or SMALL is used after the sign for ANIMAL, depending on the sentence, to refer to the young animal. The sign for SMALL or the sign for BIG are made with one hand in the shape of 5, palm down. The distance between the ground and the hand indicates the relative size of the animal. These signs are used after the sign for ANIMAL.
The plural is formed by adding the sign for MANY after the sign for ANIMAL. A classifier is often used. In this case one or two hands in the curved V shape are used. They are placed at various points in the signing space as though several animals were actually being put into that space.
When the noun ANIMAL is used as the subject of a verb of movement, one or both hands in the shape of curved V or curved 5 are used as classifiers and move accordingly.
