Is-sinjal għal APPREZZAMENT jixbaħ dak għal GRAZZI. Isir biż-żewġ idejn li jieħdu l-forma ta’ 5 bil-pala tħares ’il ġewwa u bis-saba’ ż-żgħir u s-saba’ taċ-ċurkett imissu biex l-idejn jimxu flimkien minn quddiem il-geddum ’il barra u ’l isfel. Ix-xufftejn jartikulaw il-kelma ‘thank you’ modifikata u l-għajnejn jieħdu aspett serju u r-ras timxi ftit ’il quddiem. Dan l-apprezzament huwa dak li jirreferi b’mod partikolari għall-persuni li jaħdmu l-isptar u postijiet oħra f’xogħol relatat mal-COVID-19.
The sign for APPRECIATION resembles that for THANKS. It is made with both hands that take the shape of 5 with palms facing inwards and with the pinkie and ring finger touching so that the hands move together from in front of the chin outwards and downwards. The lips articulate a modified version of the English ‘thank you’ and the eyes take on a serious aspect by closing a little whilst the head moves forward. This sign of appreciation is being used in particular to address the frontliners in hospitals and elsewhere in work related to COVID-19.
