Is-sinjal għal ASTRONAWTA magħmul minn żewġ partijiet. (i) Fl-ewwel parti jsir is-sinjal għall-ISPAZJU. Id waħda tieħu l-forma ta’ 1 bil-pala tħares ’il barra. L-id titla’ dritt ’il fuq għola mir-ras. Ġieli l-id l-oħra tieħu l-forma ta’ 1 u titqiegħed livell mal-minkeb tal-ewwel id bil-werrej iħares ftit ’il fuq. L-għajnejn iħarsu ’l fuq laġenba waqt li l-ħaddejn jintefħu. (ii) It-tieni parti ssir biż-żewġ idejn forma ta’ 5 miftuħa bis-swaba’ mrikkba ġo xulxin ftit ’il fuq mir-ras. L-idejn jersqu lejn il-ġnub u jinżlu ’l isfel maġenb il-wiċċ. Dan il-moviment ifakkar fl-elmu li jilbes l-astronawta.
The sign for ASTRONAUT consists of two parts. (i) The first part is the sign for SPACE. One hand takes the shape of 1 with palm facing outwards. The hand moves straight up above head level. The other hand sometimes takes the shape of 1 and is placed at the level of the other elbow with the index finger pointing slightly upwards. The signer’s eyes look up and sideways whilst the cheeks are puffed out. (ii) The second part of the sign is made with both hands in the shape of open 5. The fingers move into the spaces formed by the open fingers as the hands are held a little over the head. They then move out and down beside the face. This movement reminds one of the astronaut’s helmet.
