Is-sinjal għal AVVENT għandu tliet partijiet. (i) Fl-ewwel parti jsir is-sinjal għal ERBA’ ĠIMGĦAT. Id waħda tieħu l-forma ta’ 5 magħluq u timtedd quddiem bil-pala tħares ’l isfel. L-id l-oħra tieħu l-forma ta’ 4 u tinżel bil-pala tħares ’l isfel it-tul tad-driegħ sal-polz. (ii) Fit-tieni parti jsir is-sinjal għal QABEL. L-ewwel id tibqa’ mimduda bħal qabel. L-id l-oħra taqbeż f’linja tonda ’l fuq minn wiċċ l-ewwel id lura sa’ wara l-polz. (iii) Fit-tielet parti jsir is-sinjal għal MILIED. L-id tieħu l-forma ta’ 5 bis-saba’ l-kbir stirat ’il barra. Is-saba’ l-kbir u s-swaba’ l-oħra jmissu x-xedaq waqt li jersqu qrib xulxin. Imbagħad l-id tkompli nieżla dritt ’l isfel bħallikieku qed tmelles il-baffi twila.
The sign for ADVENT consists of three parts. (i) In the first part the sign for FOUR WEEKS is made. One hand takes the form of closed 5 and lies at the front with the palm facing downwards. The other hand takes the shape of 4 and moves down with palm facing downwards along the arm until it reaches the wrist. (ii) In the second part the sign for BEFORE is made. The first hand continues to lie as before. The other hand jumps in an arc upwards from the top of the first hand back to just behind the wrist. (iii) In the third part the sign for CHRISTMAS is made. One hand takes the form of 5 with outstretched thumb. The thumb and the fingers touch the chin as they move close to each other. Then the hand moves straight down as though stroking a long beard.
