L-id l-oħra tieħu l-forma ta’ 5, bis-swaba’ kemm kemm imgħawġin. Din l-id tiċċaqlaq fuq l-oħra bi skossi żgħar waqt li s-swaba’ joqogħdu jitgħawġu u jiddrittaw biex timita l-brimba fuq l-għanqbuta.

This sign is made with one hand in the shape of a 5 with slightly curved fingers and with the palm facing downwards or outwards. The hand moves up, then down, as the fingers flutter.

A variant of this sign is a two-handed sign. One hand is at waist level in the shape of curved 5 with palm facing the ground, representing the cobweb. The other hand in the form of 5, with fingers slightly bent, moves with gentle jerks over the first hand as the fingers curve and straighten alternately. This represents the spider building the web.

The sign for SMALL, made with an O shaped hand, is used after the sign for SPIDER to refer to a small spider. The sign for BIG, made with a C shaped hand, opening according to the desired size, is used to refer to a big spider.

For the plural, the hand in the shape of X is placed at various points in the signing space as though many spiders were being placed there. The sign for MANY may be used after the sign for SPIDER instead.

When the noun SPIDER is the subject of a verb of movement, the hand in the shape of X is used as a classifier and moves according to the action of the verb.
