Hemm żewġ sinjali għal FARFETT. L-ewwel sinjal jsir bl-idejn forma ta’ 5, u bil-pala tħares ’il ġewwa. L-idejn jissalbu kontra xulxin bis-swaba’ l-kbar jistrieħu kontra xulxin waqt li s-swaba’ l-oħra jperpru bħall-ġwienaħ ta’ farfett.
It-tieni sinjal isir bl-idejn li jieħdu l-forma ta’ 5. Id-dirgħajn jissalbu u s-swaba’ l-kbar jistrieħu kontra xulxin waqt li s-swaba’ l-oħra jperpru bħall-ġwienaħ ta’ farfett. Fl-istess ħin l-idejn jogħlew djagonalment ’il fuq waqt li jżommu din il-forma.
Is-sinjali għal ŻGĦIR u għal KBIR jiġu wara s-sinjal għal FARFETT. Is-sinjal għal ŻGĦIR isir b’id waħda li tieħu l-forma ta’ Ċ żgħira, u s-saba’ l-kbir joqgħod qrib il-werrej. Is-sinjal għal KBIR isir b’id waħda li tieħu l-forma ta’ Ċ miftuħa skond id-daqs mixtieq.
Għall-plural, l-id tieħu l-forma ta’ X u titpoġġa f’punti differenti fiż-żona tas-sinjali, qisu hemmhekk qed jitqiegħdu ħafna friefet. Inkella jista’ jintuża s-sinjal għal ĦAFNA wara s-sinjal għal FARFETT.
Meta n-nom FARFETT ikun is-suġġett ta’ verb ta’ moviment, l-id tieħu l-forma ta’ X, tintuża bħala classifier u timxi skond l-azzjoni tal-verb.
There are two signs for BUTTERFLY. The first sign is made with the hands in the 5 shape with palms facing inwards. The hands are crossed over each other with the thumbs crossed over each other to hold the butterfly shape whilst the fingers flutter lightly like the butterfly’s wings.
The second sign is made with the hands in the 5 shape with palms facing outwards. The hands are crossed over. The thumbs are crossed over to hold the butterfly shape whilst the fingers move lightly like the butterfly’s wings. At the same time, the hands move diagonally upwards in this crossed position.
The signs for SMALL and BIG can be used after the sign for BUTTERFLY. The sign for SMALL is made with one hand in the shape of a small Ċ, with the thumb close to the index finger. The sign for BIG is made with a Ċ shaped hand opening according to the desired size.
For the plural, the hand in the shape of X is placed at various places in the signing space as though many butterflies were being placed there. The sign for MANY may be used after the sign for BUTTERFLY instead.
When the noun BUTTERFLY is the subject of a verb of movement, the hand in the shape of X is used as a classifier and moves according to the action of the verb.
