The sign for FRUIT is made up of the shortened signs for three fruits and so has three parts. (i) First the shortened sign for APPLE is made. One hand takes the shape of curved 5 with palm facing inwards in front of the mouth. The hand is thrown back suddenly. (ii) A shortened variant of the sign for ORANGE is made next. One hand moves down to the other hand which is held stationary in the shape of slightly curved 5 with fingers apart and palm facing upwards. The first hand turns quickly on the palm of the stationary hand. (iii) Then the hand makes the shortened sign for BANANA.
