Dan is-sinjal huwa magħmul minn żewġ partijiet: (jew i) Fl-ewwel parti l-idejn jieħdu l-forma ta’ 5 mgħawweġ, u l-polz ta’ id waħda jmiss il-polz ta’ l-oħra. L-idejn iħarsu lejn xulxin bħaż-żewġt iġnub ta’ qoxra li jistgħu jinfetħu u jingħalqu. (jew ii) Fit-tieni parti id waħda tibqa’ l-istess waqt li l-oħra tieħu l-forma ta’ F u tinħall minn magħha u tinżel fuq l-ewwel id. Fl-istess ħin is-swaba’ jingħalqu ftit qishom qed ipoġġu perla fil-qoxra.
Id-daqs ta’ l-ostrika jintwera b’id waħda forma ta’ Ċ magħluqa jew miftuħa skond id-daqs ta’ l-ostrika.
Għall-plural is-sinjal għal ĦAFNA jiġi wara s-sinjal għal OSTRIKA. Ġieli ukoll tintuża classifier. F’dan il-każ tintuża l-id fil-forma ta’ 1. Is-saba’ jipponta lejn ħafna punti fiż-żona tas-sinjali qisu hemmhekk qed jgħodd ħafna ostriki.
L-id fil-forma ta’ 1 jew ta’ X tista’ tintuża bħala classifier meta ssir referenza għal xi azzjoni jew xi kwalità ta’ l-ostrika fis-sentenza.
This sign is made up of two parts: (jew i) In the first part the hands take the shape of curved 5, touching at the wrist, with palms facing each other like the two sides of a shell that open at one end and are attached at the other. (jew ii) In the second part one hand remains fixed whilst the other is released and moves down in the shape of F onto the first hand whilst the fingers close, as though placing a pearl inside the shell.
The size of the oyster is expressed by the use of the C shaped hand, more or less closed depending on the size of the oyster.
The plural is expressed by the sign for MANY following the sign for OYSTER. Sometimes the hand in the 1 shape is used as a classifier. The index finger points to several places in the signing space as though counting several oysters there.
The 1 shaped hand can be used as a classifier when reference is made to some action or quality of the oyster in a sentence.
