Hemm żewġ sinjali differenti GRANĊ. L-ewwel sinjal isir biż-żewġ idejn u bil-pala tħares ’il ġewwa. Il-ponta tas-saba’ l-kbir imiss il-ponta tas-saba’ tan-nofs waqt li l-werrej jitla’ u jinżel fuqhom xi erba’ darbiet.
It-tieni sinjal isir bl-idejn li jieħdu l-forma ta’ C. L-idejn iħarsu lejn xulxin mal-ġenb. Is-swaba’ jingħalqu u jinfetħu darbtejn jew iktar.
Is-sinjal għal GRANĊ żgħir jew kbir isir bis-sinjal għal GRANĊ u s-sinjal għal ŻGĦIR jew għal KBIR. Id-daqs tal-granċ ġieli jintwera bl-idejn forma ta’ Ċ waqt li jħarsu lejn xulxin f’linja orizzontali. Id-distanza bejn l-idejn turi d-daqs tal-granċ.
Għall-plural, is-sinjal għal ĦAFNA jiġi wara s-sinjal għal GRANĊ. L-id forma ta’ X tista’ titqiegħed f’ħafna postijiet fiż-żona tas-sinjali qisu hemmhekk qed jitpoġġew ħafna granċijiet.
Meta n-nom GRANĊ ikun is-suġġett ta’ verb ta’ moviment, l-id tieħu l-forma ta’ X biex tintuża bħala classifier fis-sentenza meta ssir referenza għal xi azzjoni jew xi kwalità tal-granċ.
There are two different signs for CRAB. The first sign is made with both hands with palms facing inwards. The fingertips of the thumb and the middle finger touch whilst the index finger is raised and lowered four times or more.
The second sign is made with the hands in the shape of C with the palms facing each other at the sides. The fingers close and open twice or more.
The sign for a small crab or for a large crab is the sign for CRAB followed by the sign for SMALL or the sign for LARGE. The size of the crab is often indicated by the hands in the shape of Ċ facing each other in a horizontal direction. The distance between the hands indicates the size of the crab.
The sign for MANY is used after the sign for CRAB to indicate plurality. The hand in the shape of X is placed in several places in the signing space as though several crabs were being placed there.
When the noun CRAB is the subject of a verb of movement, one hand in the shape of X is used as a classifier when reference is made to some action or quality related to the crab in the sentence.
