Hemm żewġ sinjali differenti għal IL-ĠIMGĦA. Bil-Malti, l-ismijiet tal-ġranet tal-ġimgħa, mill-Ħadd sas-Sibt, huma l-ismijiet għan-numri 1 sa’ 7. L-ewwel sinjal għal IL- ĠIMGĦA jsir b’id waħda li tieħu l-forma ta’ 6, bil-pala tħares ’il ġewwa u d-driegħ wieqaf ’il fuq mill-minkeb. L-id timxi lejn il-ġenb l-ieħor waqt li l-minkeb jibqa’ fil-post. It-tieni sinjal huwa l-istess bħas-sinjal għal ĦASEL XI ĦAĠA li jsir bl-idejn forma ta’ ponn. Ponn wieħed jieqaf bil-pala tħares ’il fuq waqt li l-ponn l-ieħor, bil-pala tħares ’l isfel, jinżel fuq il-ponn il-wieqaf u jimxi min-naħa għall-oħra fuqu qisu qed jogħrku. Dan is-sinjal qadim u jirrifletti kultura antika, forsi qabel ma kien hawn ħafna magni tal-ħasil.
There are two different signs for FRIDAY. In Maltese the names for the days of the week, from Sunday to Saturday are the numbers 1 to 7. The first sign for FRIDAY is made with one hand that takes the shape of 6 with fingers apart and with palm facing inwards and arm vertically oriented from the elbow. The hand moves towards the other side whilst the elbow stays in place. The second sign is the same as the sign for WASH SOMETHING. It is made with both hands in the shape of fists. One fist is held stationary with palm facing upwards whilst the other fist moves onto the stationary fist with palm facing downwards and moves from one side to the other over it as though scrubbing it. This is a much older sign and reflects an older culture, possibly before washing machines were in popular use.
