Is-sinjal għal ŻEBBUĠ isir biż-żewġ idejn. Id waħda titqiegħed bil-pala ta’ l-id tħares ’l fuq fil-livell tal-qadd. L-id l-oħra tieħu l-forma ta’ L bil-pala tħares ’il ġewwa u s-saba’ l-kbir jew il-werrej idur f’ċirku żgħir fuq il-pala ta’ l-id il-wieqfa mingħajr ma jmissha. Dan huwa s-sinjal għal ŻEJT.
Ġieli jsir is-sinjal għall-ittra Ż, l-ewwel ittra fl-isem tal-post. Kultant l-id tieħu l-forma ta’ Ż flok ta’ L.
The sign for ZEJTUN is made with both hands. One hand is placed palm up at waist level. The other hand takes the shape of L with palm facing inwards and the thumb or the index finger rotates in a small circle over the palm of the other hand without touching it. This is the sign for “oil”, or “żejt” in Maltese.
Sometimes the sign for Ż, the first letter of the placename is added. Occasionally the hand takes the shape of Ż instead of L.
