Hemm żewġ sinjali għal KOALA. L-ewwel sinjal huwa magħmul minn żewġ partijiet:
(jew i) L-ewwel, iż-żewġ idejn jieħdu l-forma ta’ 5 ikkurvata bis-swaba’ mbegħdin. L-idejn joħorġu ’l barra imbagħad iduru qisu biex jgħannqu xi ħaġa jew xi ħadd. Dan ifakkrek fil-koala mqabbad mas-siġra. (jew ii) Imbagħad isir is-sinjal għal SIĠRA. Id waħda tieqaf mill-minkeb fil-forma ta’ 5 kkurvata u ddur fuqha nnifisha waqt li l-minkeb jistrieħ fuq l-id l-oħra.

Is-sinjal għal TARBIJA jew is-sinjal għal ŻGĦIR jintużaw mas-sinjal ta’ KOALA biex jirreferi għall-ferħ tal-koala. There are two signs for KOALA. The first sign is made up of two parts: (jew i) The hands take the curved 5 shape with fingers apart. Both arms are stretched out and then move round as though hugging something or someone This reminds one of the koala attached to a tree. (jew ii) Then the sign for TREE is made with one hand held upright from the elbow and in the shape of loose 5. The hand rotates on itself as the elbow rests on the other hand.
The second sign is the same except that the sign for TREE is made first.
The sign for BABY or for SMALL are used after the sign for KOALA to refer to the cub. To refer to a small or large koala, the sign for SMALL or the sign for BIG are made with two hands in the shape of Ċ, palms facing each other in a horizontal line. The distance between the hands indicates the relative size of the koala. The signs are used after the sign for KOALA.
The sign for MANY is used after the sign for KOALA to express the plural. A classifier is often used. In this case one or both hands in the shape of curved V are placed at various points in the signing space as though several koalas were actually being put into that space.
When the noun KOALA is the subject of a verb of movement, the hand in the shape of curved V is used as the classifier and moves according to the action indicated by the verb.
