Hemm żewġ sinjali differenti għal KOBRA. L-ewwel sinjal għandu żewġ partijiet. (jew i) L-ewwel id-driegħ ikun mimdud u l-id tieħu l-forma ta’ 1, bil-pala ta’ l-id tħares ‘il ġewwa. Il-werrej iserrep ’il quddiem. (jew ii) Fit-tieni parti l-id titla’ dritta ’l fuq f’daqqa u tieħu l-forma ta’ 5 ikkurvata ġieli bil-minkeb jistrieħ fuq l-id l-oħra li timtedd mal-livell tal-qadd.
It-tieni sinjal għandu tlett partijiet. (jew i) L-ewwel parti l-istess bhal dik tal-ewwel sinjal, jiġifieri, l-id isserrep ’il quddiem. (jew ii) It-tieni parti tixbaħ dik tal-ewwel sinjal imma l-id li titla ’l fuq tieħu l-forma ta’ 5 magħluqa u xxejjer ftit f’linja kkurvata. (jew iii) Fit-tielet parti l-idejn joqogħdu dritti ma’ ġenb ir-ras. Jieħdu l-forma ta’ 1 bil-werrej iħares ’il fuq. Imbagħad jimxu ’l isfel u ’l ġewwa mill-ġenb tar-ras għall-quddiem. Din il-parti ġieli ma tintużax.
Is-sinjal għal ŻGĦIR jew għal KBIR isir miż-żewġ idejn forma ta’ Ċ. L-idejn iħarsu lejn xulxin f’linja djagonali. Id-distanza bejniethom tindika id-daqs tal-kobra. Is-sinjal għal KBIR jew għal ŻGĦIR isir wara s-sinjal għal KOBRA.
Għall-plural is-sinjal għal ĦAFNA jiġi wara s-sinjal għal KOBRA. Ġieli ukoll tintuża classifier - id waħda jew iż-żewġ idejn jieħdu l-forma ta’ 1 mimdud bil-pala ta’ l-id tħares djagonalment lejn il-ġisem. L-idejn jitpoġġew f’ħafna punti fiż-żona tas-sinjali qisu hemmhekk qed jitqiegħdu ħafna kobri. Meta n-nom KOBRA jkun is-suġġett ta’ verb ta’ moviment, tintuża l-classifier u l-id jew l-idejn jimxu skond l-azzjoni.
There are two different signs for COBRA. The first sign is made up of two parts. (jew i)The arm lies horizontally with the hand in the shape of 1, palm facing the body. The index finger moves forward in a winding pattern. (jew ii) The hand moves upwards abruptly and the handshape changes to that of curved 5, palm facing outwards. Sometimes the elbow rests on the other hand.
The second sign has three parts: (jew i) The first part is the same as for the first sign, i.e. it is made with one hand in the shape of 1, palm facing the body. The index finger moves forward in a winding pattern. (jew ii) In the second part the hand moves upwards abruptly and the elbow is supported by the other hand. The upright hand makes a circling waving movement. (jew iii) Both hands are then held upright in the shape of 1 at the sides of the head. They move round down at the side and then to the front with the index fingers pointing backwards and palms outwards.
The sign for SMALL or the sign for BIG is made with two hands in the shape of Ċ in a diagonal direction. The distance between the hands indicates the relative size of the cobra. The sign for COBRA precedes the sign for SMALL or BIG.
The sign for MANY is used after the sign for COBRA to signal the plural. A classifier is often used. One or both hands take the shape of 1 lying with the palms facing the body diagonally. The hands are placed at various points in the signing space as though several cobras were being placed there. This classifier is used where COBRA is used as the subject of a verb of movement and moves according to the action of the verb.
