Hemm tlett sinjali differenti għal MODERN(A). L-ewwel sinjal jintuża għat-tifsira ta’ modern fis-sens ta’ l-iktar riċenti. Dan isir b’id waħda forma ta’ 5 miftuħa bil-pala tħares ’il fuq. L-id titla’ bil-mod minn isfel nett ’il fuq sakemm tasal livell mar-ras. It-tieni sinjal jintuża għat-tifsira ta’ (l-iktar) ġdid u għandu żewġ partijiet. (i) L-ewwel isir is-sinjal għall-ittra M bit-tliet iswaba’ tan-nofs iħarsu ’l isfel waqt li s-swaba’ l-oħra jersqu lura. (ii) Imbagħad isir is-sinjal għal ĠDID. Id waħda tieqaf forma ta’ 5 magħluqa bil-pala tħares ’il fuq waqt li l-id l-oħra, ukoll forma ta’ 5 magħluqa tgħaddi minn fuq il-pala tal-id il-wieqfa. It-tielet sinjal jintuża għal xi ħaġa ġdida. Is-sinjal għandu żewġ partijiet. (i) L-ewwel isir is-sinjal għal XI ĦAĠA bl-idejn forma ta’ 5 miftuħa, bis-swaba’ mifrudin u bil-pala tħares ’il ġewwa, iduru fuq xulxin. (ii) Imbagħad id waħda bis-saba’ l-kbir u l-werrej forma ta’ ċirku u bis-swaba’ l-oħra mifrudin u mgħawġin jimxu min-nofs lejn il-ġenb bil-pala tħares ’il barra.
There are three different sign for MODERN. The first sign is used to refer to something that is the most recent. It is made with one hand in the shape of open 5 with the palm facing upwards. The hand moves slowly upwards from the lowest level until it reaches head level. The second sign is used to mean newest. It is made up of two parts. (i) First the sign for M is made with the three middle fingers pointed downwards as the other fingers are pushed back. (ii) Then the sign for NEW is made with both hands in the shape of closed 5. One hand is held stationary with palm facing upwards whilst the other hand, also palm upwards, passes over the palm of the stationary hand. The third sign is used to refer to something new. The sign has two parts. (i) first, the sign for SOMETHING is made with both hands in the shape of open 5 with fingers apart and the palm facing inwards rotating over each other. (ii) Then one hand forms a small circle with the thumb and index finger and the other fingers are held twisted apart. The hand moves from the middle towards the side with the palm facing outwards.
