Is-sinjal għal MĦAR isir biż-żewġ idejn li jieħdu l-forma ta’ 5 magħluqa laxka u joqogħdu fuq xulxin, waħda tħares lejn l-oħra bil-polzijiet imissu. L-idejn jistgħu joħorġu ’l barra u d-dirgħajn ikunu kważi orizzontali mill-minkeb jew jitilgħu ’l fuq, quddiem il-wiċċ. L-idejn jibqgħu jmissu ma’ xulxin mill-polz waqt li s-swaba jisseparaw biex l-idejn jinfetħu imbagħad jerġgħu jingħalqu darbtejn jew iktar.
Hemm varjant ta’ dan is-sinjal li jsir billi l-idejn imissu ma’ xulxin minn ġenb wieħed u jinfetħu mill-ġenb l-ieħor, jiġifieri min-naħa tas-saba’ l-kbir.
Is-sinjal għal ŻGĦIR u għal KBIR jintużaw wara s-sinjal għal IMĦAR. Dawn is-sinjali magħmula b’id waħda forma ta’ Ċ. Id-distanza bejn is-saba’ l-kbir u s-swaba’ l-oħra tindika d-daqs ta’ l-imħar.
Għall-plural is-sinjal għal ĦAFNA jiġi wara s-sinjal għal IMĦAR.
The sign for MUSSEL is made with both hands in the shape of closed 5 lying on top of each other with wrists together. The hands are either stretched out from the elbow to almost horizontal position or are moved up in front of the face. The hands remain closed at the wrist whilst they open from the other side twice or more.
A variant is made with the hands closed at one side and opening at the other side, that is, at the thumb side.
The sign for SMALL and for BIG are used after the sign for MUSSEL. These signs are made with one hand in the shape of C. The distance between the thumb and the other fingers indicate the size of the mussel.
The sign for MANY is used after the sign for MUSSEL to refer to the plural.
