Is-sinjal għal NEMUSA għandu żewġ partijiet: (jew i) Id waħda tieħu l-forma ta’ F mgħawġa u titla’ mal-ġenb ’il fuq mir-ras waqt li s-saba’ l-kbir flimkien mal-werrej jagħmlu moviment żigużajg. (jew ii) Imbagħad id tinżel mimduda bil-pala ’l isfel fil-waqt li l-id l-oħra tieħu l-forma ta’ 5 bis-swaba’ milwija mill-għaksa u timxi ’l fuq u ’l isfel fuq id-driegħ ta’ l-ewwel id.
Is-sinjal għal ŻGĦIR isir b’id waħda forma ta’ Ċ magħluqa, bis-saba’ l-kbir qrib tal-werrej. Id-distanza bejn il-werrej u s-saba’ l-kbir jindika d-daqs tan-nemusa (jew żgħira). Is-sinjal għal KBIR isir b’id waħda forma ta’ Ċ miftuħa skond id-daqs mixtieq, u jintuża biex tindika nemusa kbira. Is-sinjal għal ŻGĦIR u s-sinjal għal KBIR jiġu wara s-sinjal għal NEMUSA.
Għall-plural, ġieli tintuża l-id bil-forma ta’ 5 milwi li ddur ma’ ġenb ir-ras. L-espressjoni tal-wiċċ tinbidel f’waħda li turi stmellija. Ġieli, l-id bil-forma ta’ F miftuħa titqiegħed f’punti differenti fiż-żona tas-sinjali, livell ma’ l-għajnejn, qisu hemmhekk qed jitqiegħdu ħafna nemus. Inkella, s-sinjal għal ĦAFNA jista’ jiġi wara s-sinjal għal NEMUSA.
Meta n-nom NAĦLA jkun is-suġġett ta’ verb ta’ moviment, l-id forma ta’ F jew forma ta’ X tintuża bħala classifier u timxi skond l-azzjoni tal-verb.
The sign for mosquito is made up of two parts: (jew i) One hand in the shape of curved F is raised at the side above head level and the thumb touching the index finger makes a zigzag movement. (jew ii) One hand lies horizontally, palm down, whilst the other hand in the shape of 5 bent at the knuckles moves up and down on the arm of the first hand.
The sign for SMALL is made with one hand in the shape of closed Ċ with the thumb close to the index finger. The distance between the thumb and the index finger indicates the size of the mosquito. The sign for BIG, made with a C shaped hand, opening according to the desired size, is used to refer to a big mosquito. The signs for SMALL and BIG are used after the sign for MOSQUITO.
For the plural, the hand in the bent 5 shape rotates at the side of the head. The facial expression is that of disgust. Sometimes, the open F shaped hand is placed at different points in the signing zone at eye level as though many mosquitos were being placed there. Otherwise, the sign for MANY is used after the sign for MOSQUITO.
When the noun MOSQUITO is the subject of a verb of movement, the hand in the shape of F or X is used as a classifier and moves according to the action of the verb.
