Hemm żewġ sinjali għal PAGUN. It-tnejn għandhom żewġ partijiet. L-ewwel sinjal isir hekk: (jew i) L-ewwel isir is-sinjal ftit imqassar għal GĦASFUR. L-id tieħu l-forma ta’ L bil-pala ’l barra. Is-saba’ l-kbir u l-werrej jingħalqu u jerġgħu jinfetħu xi darbtejn. (jew ii) Imbagħad id-dirgħajn jogħlew ’il fuq u ’l barra u l-idejn jieħdu l-forma ta’ 5, bil-pala tħares ’il barra mill-ġenb tal-wiċċ u jinżlu ’l barra u ‘l isfel. Kultant l-idejn jitqiegħdu fuq ir-ras flok mal-ġenb. Dan il-moviment ifakkrek f’denb il-pagun jinfetaħ.
It-tieni sinjal isir hekk: (jew 1) L-ewwel parti issir b’id waħda li tieħu l-forma ta’ Ċ u titqiegħed quddiem l-għonq bil-pala tħares ’il barra. L-id togħla ’l fuq biex tindika għonq twil waqt li r-ras tmil lura. (jew 2) Imbagħad l-idejn jieħdu l-forma ta’ 4 bil-pala tħares ’il barra u jimxu mill-ġnub tal-għonq ’il barra lejn il-ġnub f’linja ttundjata.
Is-sinjali għal ŻGĦIR u għal KBIR isiru minn id waħda forma ta’ 5 bil-pala tħares lejn l-art. Id-distanza bejn l-id u l-art tindika d-daqs tal-pagun. Is-sinjal għal PAGUN jiġi qabel is-sinjal għal ŻGĦIR jew KBIR.
Għall-plural is-sinjal għal ĦAFNA jiġi wara s-sinjal għal PAGUN. Ġieli ukoll tintuża classifier. F’dan il-każ tintuża l-id jew l-idejn fil-forma ta’ 8 mgħawweġ jew V mgħawġa u jitpoġġew f’ħafna punti fiż-żona tas-sinjali qisu hemmhekk qed jitqiegħdu ħafna paguni. Il-classifier jintuża ukoll meta n-nom PAGUN ikun is-suġġett ta’ verb ta’ movement. Il-classifier timxi skond l-azzjoni.
There are two signs for PEACOCK. Both have two parts. The first sign is made in this way: (jew i) First the slightly shortened sign for BIRD is made. The hand starts in the shape of L with the palm facing outwards. The thumb and index finger close and open twice or more. (jew ii) The arms are raised up and out such that the hands, in the shape of 5, with palms facing outwards are at the sides of the face. Sometimes the starting place is at the top of the head. The hands move out and down, a movement that reminds one of the peacock spreading its tail.
The second sign is made like this: (jew 1) The first part is made with one hand in the shape of C. The hand is placed in front of the neck with the palm facing outwards. Then it moves up to indicate a long neck as the head moves backwards. (jew 2) Then the hands take the shape of 4 with the palms facing outwards. They move from the sides of the neck outwards towards the sides in a curved line.
The signs for SMALL and BIG are made with one hand in the shape of 5, palm facing the ground. The distance between the hand and the ground indicates the relative size of the peacock. The sign for PEACOCK is used before the sign for SMALL or BIG.
The sign for MANY is used after the sign for PEACOCK to express the plural. A classifier is often used: one or both hands in the shape of cuved 8 or curved V are placed at various points in the signing space as though several peacocks were actually being put into that space. The classifier is also used when the noun PEACOCK is the subject of a verb of movement and moves according to the action indicated by the verb.
