There are two different signs each made up of two parts for PANDA: (jew i) The first part is the same for both signs. It is the sign for BEAR, that is, with both hands in the shape of a curved 5 at shoulder level but extending forward with the arms in almost vertical position and with palms facing outwards. (jew ii) In the second part, the first sign uses both hands in the shape of a slightly open O which are placed over the eyes.

The second part of the second sign is made with one hand, in the shape of V, which touches the other shoulder and moves down diagonally back to the side of the hand at waist level. This reminds one of the black patches over the panda’s eyes.

To refer to a small or large bear, the sign for SMALL or the sign for BIG are made with two hands in the shape of Ċ, palms facing each other in a horizontal line. The distance between the hands indicates the relative size of the panda. The signs are used after the sign for PANDA.
