Hemm żewġ sinjali għal PAPPAGALL. L-ewwel sinjal isir b’id waħda bil-pala tħares ’l isfel. L-id tieħu l-forma ta’ X, tmiss mal-imnieħer u tmil ’l isfel mill-polz darbtejn lejn il-ġenb.
It-tieni sinjal isir ukoll bl-id forma ta’ X bil-pala tħares ’il barra. L-id tmil ’l isfel b’mod ikkurvat ’il quddiem imbagħad ’l isfel ’l hemm mill-imnieħer. Iż-żewġ sinjali jfakkru fil-munqar tal-pappagall.
Għal pappagall żgħir jew kbir, l-ewwel jsir is-sinjal għal PAPPAGALL imbagħad isir is-sinjal għal ŻGĦIR jew is-sinjal għal KBIR. Is-sinjal għal ŻGĦIR u għal KBIR isir bl-idejn forma ta’ 5 iħarsu lejn xulxin f’linja vertikali. Id-distanza ta’ bejn l-idejn tindika d-daqs tal-pappagall.

There are signs for PARROT. The first sign is made with the palm of one hand facing downwards. The hand, in the shape of X, touches the nose and bends down from the wrist twice towards the side.
The second sign is made with the hand, also in the shape of X, but with palm facing outwards. The hand touches the nose then bends forward from the wrist and then downwards, moving away from the nose. Both signs remind us of the parrot’s beak.
The sign for a small or large parrot is the sign for PARROT followed by the sign for SMALL or for BIG. The signs for SMALL and for BIG are made with the hands in the shape of 5 and palms facing in a vertical direction. The distance between the hands indicates the size of the parrot.
The sign for MANY is used after the sign for PARROT to signal plurality. A classifier is often used. In this case one or both hands in the shape of curved 8 or of X is placed at various points in the signing space as though several parrots were actually being put into that space.
When the noun PARROT is the subject of a verb of movement, one hand in the shape of curved 8 or of X is used as the classifier, moving according to the action indicated by the verb.
