Hemm żewġ sinjali għal SKANK. L-ewwel sinjal għandu żewġ partijiet: (jew i) Id waħda tieħu l-forma ta’ V miftuħa bil-pala tħares ’l isfel u timxi minn quddiem ta’ fuq ir-ras lura għal wara r-ras. (jew ii) Imbagħad, l-id tieħu l-forma ta’ 5 dritta u magħluqa bil-pala tħares lejn il-genb u tintlewa ’l quddiem mill-polz imbagħad terġa’ lura darbtejn jew iktar qisha qed trewwah imma l-espressjoni tal-wiċċ negattiva tindika r-riħa ħażina.
It-tieni sinjal huwa magħmul minn żewġ partijiet: (jew i) L-ewwel, l-id tieħu l-forma ta’ Q u toqgħod fuq ir-ras, quddiem, fin-nofs. Imbagħad timxi lura u ’l isfel mar-ras filwaqt li l-pala tħares ’l isfel; (jew ii) Meta tasal mal-ġenb tal-għonq, l-id tieħu l-forma ta’ 1 u tinżel sal-ispalla djagonalment biex tagħmel is-sinjal ta’ ABJAD. Dan il-moviment ifakkrek fl-istrixxa bajda ta’ l-iskank.
Is-sinjal għal TARBIJA kultant jintuża wara s-sinjal għal SKANK biex jirreferi għall-ferħ tiegħu. Is-sinjal għal ŻGĦIR jew għal KBIR isir bl-idejn li jieħdu l-forma ta’ 5 u jħarsu lejn xulxin f’linja orizzontali jew vertikali. Id-distanza bejn l-idejn tindika d-daqs ta’ l- iskank. Is-sinjal għal skank jiġi qabel is-sinjal għal ŻGĦIR jew KBIR
Fil-plural, is-sinjal għal ĦAFNA jintuża wara s-sinjal għal SKANK. Ġieli ukoll tintuża classifier. F’dan il-każ, id waħda jew iż-żewġ idejn jieħdu l-forma ta’ U jew ta’ V imgħawġa u jitpoġġew f’ħafna punti fiż-żona tas-sinjali qisu hemmhekk qed jitqiegħdu ħafna skankijiet.
Meta n-nom SKANK ikun is-suġġett ta’ verb ta’ moviment, id waħda jew iż-żewġ idejn jieħdu l-forma ta’ U jew ta’ V mgħawġa. Dawn jintużaw bħala classifier u l-idejn jimxu skond l-azzjoni.
There are two signs for SKUNK. The first sign is made up of two parts. (jew i) First, the hand takes the shape of open V with palm facing downwards. It moves from the front top of the head backwards. (jew ii) Then, the hand takes the shape of straight closed 5 with palm facing the side and bends back and front at the wrist twice or more as though fanning. The facial expression indicates the foul smell.
The second sign has two parts: (jew i) The first part consists of the hand taking the shape of Q on top of the head in the middle front. The palm faces down, the hand moves back and down along the head; (jew ii) The hand takes the shape of 1 when it reaches the side of the neck. It moves down diagonally to the shoulder thus making the sign for WHITE. This reminds one of the white stripe of the skunk.
The sign for SKUNK followed by the sign for BABY is sometimes used to refer to the young. The signs for SMALL and BIG are made with two hands in the shape of 5 with palms facing each other in horizontally or vertically. The distance between the hands indicates the relative size. The sign for SKUNK precedes that for SMALL or BIG.
The sign for MANY follows the sign for SKUNK to indicate plurality. A classifier is often used - one or both hands take the shape of U or curved V and are placed at various points in the signing space as though several skunks were being put there. The classifiers are also used when SKUNK is used with a verb of movement and they moves accordingly.
