Hemm żewġ sinjali għal SORPRIŻ(A). L-ewwel sinjal għandu żewġ partijiet. (i) L-ewwel parti issir biż-żewġ idejn li jieħdu l-forma ta’ 5 miftuħa u jitqiegħdu ftit imrikkba fuq is-sider bil-pala tħares ’il ġewwa. L-għajnejn jinfetħu beraħ. (ii) Imbagħad l-idejn jimxu ftit lejn il-ġnub tas-sider u s-swaba’ jferfru ’l fuq u ’l isfel ftit waqt li l-wiċċ jitbissem. Dan is-sinjal jintuża meta s-sorpriża tkun pjaċevoli. It-tieni sinjal isir bl-idejn quddiem forma ta’ ponn bil-pala tħares ’l isfel. Il-ponnijiet jinfetħu f’daqqa waqt li jimxu iktar ’il quddiem u lejn il-ġnub. L-għajnejn jinfetħu beraħ u l-wiċċ jibqa’ serju. Dan is-sinjal jintuża fis-sens ta’ QATGĦA mhux pjaċevoli.
There are two signs for SURPRISED. The first sign has two parts. (i) The first part is made with both hands in the shape of open 5 placed overlapping a little over the chest with palms facing inwards. The eyes open wide. (ii) Then the hands move to the sides of the chest and the fingers flutter up and down a little whilst the signer smiles. This sign is used when the surprise is a pleasant one. The second sign is made with the hands in the form of fists with palms facing downwards. The fists open suddenly as they move more towards the front and to the sides. The eyes are wide open and the face remains serious. This sign is used in the case of an unpleasant FRIGHT.
