Is-sinjal għal SPINAĊI għandu żewġ partijiet. (i) L-ewwel isir is-sinjal għal SAĦĦA. Id waħda tieħu l-forma ta’ ponn u d-driegħ joħroġ lejn il-ġenb u jiddritta ’l fuq. (ii) Imbagħad isir is-sinjal għal PIPA. L-id tieħu l-forma ta’ Y u timxi lejn il-ħalq fejn is-saba’ l-kbir jistrieħ taħt il-ġenb tax-xoffa u s-saba’ ż-żgħir jipponta ’l fuq. Dan ifakkar f’Popeye, il-karattru fil-cartoon magħruf jiekol l-ispinaċi.
The sign for SPINACH has two parts. (i) First the sign for STRENGTH is made. One hand takes the shape of a fist and the arm moves out to the side then straightens up. (ii) Then the sign for PIPE is made. One hand takes the shape of Y and moves towards the mouth where the thumb rests below the side of the lips and the pinkie point upwards. This reminds one of Popeye, the cartoon character known to eat spinach.
