Is-sinjal għal ŻEJT isir biż-żewġ idejn. Id waħda tieħu l-forma ta’ 5 u tieqaf fin-nofs bil-pala tħares ’il fuq. L-id l-oħra tieħu l-forma ta’ A imma bis-saba’ l-kbir maħruġ ’il barra u bil-pala tħares ’l isfel. Din l-id iddur ftit ’il fuq mill-id il-wieqfa bis-saba’ l-kbir iħares ’l isfel qisu ż-żennuna.
The sign for OIL is made with both hands. One hand takes the shape of 5 and is held stationary in the middle with palm facing upwards. The other hand takes the shape of A but with the thumb protruding and palm facing downwards. This hand turns a little above the stationary hand with the thumb pointing downwards as though it were a spout.
